The Street Care program supports individuals and families in the local Gold Coast community who are temporarily struggling to make ends meet or require longer-term assistance. This program helps people to feel safe and supports their basic needs by providing emergency food, referrals to accommodation providers, street swags and clothes from the Op Shop.
People in need of these services are encouraged to visit our office at our Robina Campus where items and referrals are provided based on individual or family needs.
Want to get in touch? Let's talk
Helping People In Need
One young man who had recently become homeless, and with his meagre possessions stored in his car, called for some food aid. One of our dedicated volunteers met with him and helped him complete the forms and realised that he needed more than food. We were able to give him a street swag, some clothing from the Op Shop and of course some food to get him through until his next payment. He was deeply impacted by and thankful for, the generous support he received and left with the opportunity to connect with one of our counsellors and an invitation to discover more about Newlife.
Caravan Park
Another Street Care project provides a sausage sizzle brunch at a local caravan park, where residents face numerous personal, financial and social challenges. The energetic team of volunteers set up tables of donated food, clothing, useful household items and cook the BBQ for those living in the caravans, busses and cabins that make up the site.
